LiverMultiScan to Eliminate Unnecessary Biopsies in Children with Liver Disease

LiverMultiScan to Eliminate Unnecessary Biopsies in Children with Liver Disease

Kids4LIFe Study

Perspectum Diagnostics are proud to announce the launch of a €1.1 million study to develop MRI technology for exploring paediatric liver disease. Funded by EUREKA/Eurostars, the Kids4LIFe project will bring together expertise from the UK and Poland to validate LiverMultiScan for patients under 16. Children who would normally undergo liver biopsy as part of their usual care will also be offered a LiverMultiScan, and this research will help inform about the utility of multiparametric MRI for use in paediatric liver disease.

Unfortunately, 1 in 5 children in Europe suffer from fatty liver disease and currently, this can only be diagnosed by a needle biopsy. Using MRI as a safe and accurate alternative will be a vital step in reducing unnecessary biopsy investigations for children. The reports generated from LiverMultiScan will also allow physicians to provide patients with clear information regarding their disease, in a way that will effectively communicate any necessary lifestyle alterations.

We’re very excited about this project and if you want to get in touch, please use the contact form at the top of this webpage.
