Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

Rowan, a 41 year old project manager, first sought medical advice after she began experiencing pain in her upper abdomen. Her physician recommended an ultrasound scan, which led to a diagnosis of NAFLD. However, Rowan still felt unclear on precisely where she stood in relation to her condition. Like many people with fatty liver disease, she felt information and support was scarce.

Rowan’s LiverMultiScan™ results showed that her liver fat was 17.5%*, which is well above the normal range. Her cT1 measure of inflammation and fibrosis was also very high, and indicative of Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). For Rowan, the clarity of the images and results of LiverMultiScan helped her understand her condition better.

She said "At least I know where I stand. And I can say, you know what, if I don’t change this – I’m at 17% fat – what’s it going to be in another year? … This could be life changing in a good way". Rowan returned for a second LiverMultiScan 5 months later, which showed a reduction in both her inflammation and fibrosis marker (cT1) and her fat levels.
