We are proud to collaborate with expert clinical sites world-wide on a range of clinical research topics, in both adult and pediatric populations. These include fatty liver disease, biliary and autoimmune diseases, viral hepatitis and cancer. We work in partnership with the clinical and scientific community to use our technology to better understand liver disease and ultimately to improve care for patients.
Current research projects
In 2017, Perspectum Diagnostics was awarded a multi-million Euro grant to run a 2000 patient trial, “RADIcAL”, to evaluate the utility of LiverMultiScan™ for avoiding unnecessary biopsies and reduce the cost of diagnosis of chronic liver disease. We also have collaborations looking at Paediatric Liver Disease (“Kids4LIFe”) and Surgical Planning for Cancer in the Liver (“HepaT1ca”). LiverMultiScan™ Discover is the liver imaging tool for the UK Biobank project, which will scan 100,000 people over the next few years – this study is already providing exciting insights into the health of the population.Current research
The multiparametric MRI technology underpinning LiverMultiScan™ was first published in two landmark papers from the University of Oxford, highlighting the utility for non-invasive diagnosis and staging of liver disease (Banerjee, 2014) and prediction of clinical outcomes in patients with chronic liver disease (Pavlides, 2016-J. Hep). Subsequent publications have demonstrated utility in fatty liver disease (Pavlides, 2016-Liver Int., Wilman, 2017, Eddowes, 2018) along with cost-effectiveness when incorporated into a clinical pathway (Blake, 2016).Publications
